In response to the rapidly rising number of COVID-19 cases, Riverside County Public Health Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser today ordered that no gatherings of any number of people may take place outside of family members residing in the same home.

Dr. Kaiser also ordered everyone to wear a face covering when leaving home, including essential workers. Face coverings can be bandanas, scarves, neck gaiters or other clothing that does not have visible holes. Residents should not purchase N95 or surgical masks, as these limited resources are needed for the healthcare community and first responders.

Riverside County Public Health Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser extended the closure of the county’s schools to June 19 in response to the current conditions of COVID-19.

“After consultation with the districts and the County Office of Education, I unfortunately believe the safest option is to keep the schools closed through the end of the school year,” said Dr. Cameron Kaiser, Riverside County public health officer. “I know this situation is stressful for schools, students and parents alike, and I appreciate everyone’s understanding during this difficult time.”

All public and private schools, colleges and universities were ordered on March 13 to close until April 30. Today’s extension will include all locations until June 19.

Riverside University Health System will continue to give the community updates regarding COVID-19 and how it affects our everyday living, including school campuses.

Kaiser’s new health order restricts mass gatherings of 10 people or more, and orders that gatherings with fewer than 10 people must have enough available room to maintain six feet of space between attendees. This is known as social distancing. There are limited exemptions to the 10-person rule, including healthcare facilities, grocery stores, daycare centers and restaurants serving take-out.

Hello Parents/Guardians & Students,

It is important to always consider the safety and well being of all our students and staff. The global concerns about the spread of COVID-19 challenge all of us to make sure that we are doing our very best to keep everyone as safe as possible.

Therefore, we are suspending all classes and school activities from March 16th to April 3rd. As of now, students will return to school on Monday, April 6th. Upon returning to school, students should be reassured that there will be flexibility and as much time as necessary for them to complete and submit any and all school assignments and projects.

We will continue to monitor the ongoing situation and follow the advice and guidance of local, state, and federal officials regarding the matter.

We will provide all parents, students, staff, and community partners with an update on April 1st as to next steps.

Please visit our website and instagram page for any updates. Always be sure to take precautionary measures by following tips from the CDC and local public health officials.
